PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The City of Romney’s water treatment facility provides potable water not only to its City, but Central Hampshire Public Service District as well. The water treatment plant provides water to 2,179 households, 4 public schools, a correctional center, a juvenile center, a skilled care and nursing center, a hospital with attached long term care unit, 2 fire departments, an industrial park and numerous retail stores, restaurants and professional business sites.

Their water treatment facility did not have a secondary power source, leaving all of Romney and most of the residents of Hampshire County on public water, without service in the event of an unexpected power outage. To be proactive and address this problem before a major event occurred, Romney hired Thrasher to provide engineering services for the installation of a back-up power system including a 400 KW generator, transfer switch, conduits wire, and the necessary appurtenance to achieve a reliable secondary power source.
